This patch, earned by a handful of Paradoxians, indicates that the owner has climbed all 46 high (sic) peaks in the Adirondacks. (Editor's note: "High," is a relative term; the Adirondacks are mere goose bumps compared to the real mountains in the West...)
Clearly implicating the owner of both illegal and unethical behavior, this trail marker was in use (until shamelessly "liberated") during the 60's.
Merit? You want merit? There was none greater (at least in their minds) than that earned by being an intrepid member of the Explorer's Club...
The arcane object is actually a valuable artifact that soon will be offered on e-bay. At some time, more than 25 years ago, a "round-robin" letter was circulated by the Explorer's Club. On the first round, each member put in photos and comments. On the second round, they removed them. The above page was reminiscences (alas, many now, at least to me, dim or gone) penned by some of the crew. The exhubance, the kibitzing, the camaraderie can all be felt across the years.
